And we're stating our opinion of his opinion, and pointing out some things we see as weaknesses. I think it's perfectly valid to point out that none of these things should have been a surprise, or that they could have been obtained via a different trim level.

OP's subject line is inflammatory. I doubt it's deliberate, but that set the tone for the whole thread.

I did. Lack of leather was important to me. still doesn't mean I wouldn't have appreciated all the doors doing SKS none the less. That's a silly feature to differentiate on. I can understand gadgets like auto dimming mirrors and leather seats, those are all or none options. But to give you half an SKS system on I-III and the more complete SKS on IV-V seems rather silly.

In truth the only annoyance with it is when you're trying to get the hatch open. No button inside the car, and unless your doors are unlocked, you're not opening the hatch. recognizing the key and auto unlocking would be far more convenient.

Well . . . if it's cupholders you want ... knock yourself out. This'll easily allow you to bring your total cup holder quantity to about a dozen:

I think all your complaints are valid but IMHO those items you've pointed out at just very minor issues and actually I wouldn't have trouble living with since those are the things you can see when you bought the car and no one forced you to buy it.

If you think those items are a problem then you have no idea whats coming.

If it werent for the rattling and the radio problem I believe this is the best car in the world so far (I probably said this a million of times).

So hopefully you don't have those problems I've got and then you can enjoy your wonderful new car.

Yes and everyone can have their own opinion. Infact if you read my first post you'll see I defend Prius and point out that it's problematic of building on the success of the Gen 2. As well as pointing out the significant technical improvements of the 2010.

But too often when someone presents "anything" of critical nature against the Toyota Prius, it becomes "What's Wrong With YOU! For not loving Prius without critical complaint." This is whether we are evaluating cup holders, dash design, overall quality or brake operation...

Improvement comes from observations such as these. I know most everyone here loves Prius...but love can be blind.

I voiced my negative opinion of the de-featuring of the 2010 Prius at the NYC party last year. Please also add that my beanbag mount slides around on the curved dash and the ScanGauge cable is not easily hidden or tucked away. One has to buy a lot of extra stuff to get all of the standard features in the Gen2. Although the 2010's lifetime FE is improving, it is still below my Gen2's.

Your number 3 is wrong. The Ford Fusion Hybrid is a MUCH better car at 27K than the Prius in question here. My wife has one, and it's a signifigant improvemnt over the Gen III pruis.

Those are butt ugly and won't hold condensation without dripping. I'm not a big user of cup holders myself, but I can see wanting something built in and able to contain condensation.

Car options are like cable channels. YOu are pretty much stuck with certain things and pay a really high price even though you don't or want everything. You can always have a Porsche and pay the a la carte options

Although I'm pretty upset that my Prius doesn't pump its own fuel at the gas station, doesn't have vibrating seats for auto massage at stop signs, doesn't have THREE gloveboxes, and doesn't have a heads-up HD movie display in the windshield for the driver, I still think it is the only car to buy for anyone with environmental and social awareness.

And by the way, I researched the car for two months before I bought (mostly on PriusChat), so I didn't get anything except pleasant surprises, and I have no need to post a silly title like the one in this thread.

whoa whoa whoa..... you traded a fully loaded Prius for one that's a step up from a base model and you expected it to have the same features??

If I bought a 2010 Camry LE, I don't expect it to have the same features as our 2002 Camry XLE even if 8 years separate them.

In the old Prius, it's SKS or no SKS. In the new Prius, at least you get a driver's door SKS. Yes, standard 3-door would be nice but the Prius starts at $22,800 and comes with a lot more features than a $20k 2004 Prius (that one didn't even have a rear wiper!)

$26k for a III? I assume then you got the solar roof? You're already up in features....

    2005 Pkg #6:
Anti-Theft system, Homelink, Driver & Passenger Seat-Mounted Front Side Airbags, Side Curtain Airbags, JBL AM/FM/Cassette/6-CD changer with 9-speakers, SE/SS (Smart-Entry, Smart-Start), DVD-based GPS Navigation System, Bluetooth capability, VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), HID Headlamps, Foglights

Let's see.. so you lose 3-dr SKS, auto-dimming mirror w/Homelink, 7" MFD, foglights and HIDs. You gain Hill Start Assist, Driver's Knee Airbag, S-VSC, height adjustable driver's seat, more rear kneeroom, more cargo space, beltless engine, EHRS (reduces warm-up by 1 min) and Cooled EGS in addition to a larger, more fuel efficient engine, smaller, more efficient inverter, more powerful battery (36hp vs. 28hp) thanks to better cooling, smaller, lighter and more powerful electric motor, solar panel ventilation system, Remote A/C, power moonroof, advanced front airbags (occupant detection system), wider tyres, tyre pressure monitoring system, LED taillights, backup camera, bluetooth audio streaming, MP3 CD capability, integrated satellite radio, auxiliary input, USB/iPod integration, XMNavTraffic capability, Touch Tracer, touch-sensor Smart Key, rear disc brakes, one-touch illuminated power windows with rear variable speed power windows, active front headrests, aerodynamic wipers, telescopic steering wheel, automatic door locks, stiffer underbody brace.

So... I do not know... looks like you overlooked a lotta things.

Yeah that's the correct quote, but I've never liked it. Ask anyone married for more than 3 years how blind love is...a relationship won't last if you don't go into it with your eyes open. So I say, Love CAN be blind...but if it's going to last? Better open your eyes.

I agree. The SKS missing is a real pain especially after you're used to it. It was on my '07 Prius III. So was the autodimming mirror w/ homelink. At 5'2, those lights can be super annoying and I was out of a second garage door opener. So, I had that installed afterwards.

As for the cupholders, I actually prefer them where they are at now. I have 2 boys and they would end up kicking or stepping on the cupholders in the back every other day making the cup holder unit completly pop out. So, this works a lot better for me.

I don't really care so much for the plush side-door area. I liked it better before. Yes, the car isn't a "livingroom" but with 2 kids they're bound to have sticky hands or something on them now and again. The way they were is easier to keep clean. But, no major issues with it.

I prefer everything else on the vehicle. I love love love my car!!! The Bluetooth streaming without having to use the aux cord is super awesome too! :)

Anyone know if it's possible to install SKS on the other doors and trunk? Just curious.

The II & IIIs are striped down models, you get what you pay for, so choose wisely.

$27K for a FFH? My how prices have dropped. Or maybe they're finally offering them without every available option. I cross-shopped last June, and don't get me wrong, the FFH is a *great* car, but there was nothing on a lot around within 100 mi for <$33K and they weren't dickering (to be fair, neither was Toyota on the Prius). I like the way the FFH drives. But to say it is a "significant improvement over the Gen III Prius" is subjective--not to say that that is wrong, just subjective. My subjective analysis is that the ability to carry more cargo than a few grocery bags and get 50-60mpg makes the Prius a "significant improvement" over the FFH--at the IV level, for $25K and change. Point being, we all have our priorities. They're all right. (Personally, I'd like one of each--any philanthropists out there? :))

I do wish Ford and Toyota (in the HiCam) could figure a way to fold those back seats down for more cargo--would do a lot to even the playing field.

The Camry Hybrid does have folding seats but it's more for skis and snowboards than for CD towers and flatscreen TVs

I also wonder about $27K. The list price is $27.9K, and
they have been adding $4-6K of options. Before I bought
my Prius in February 2010, my preference was for a FFH
and I shopped for one. Besides the fact that Ford only
offers hybrid in a very high list price model, dealers did
not want to negotiate. The dealers I spoke with were
getting only one or two FFH a month, so I can understand
    why.

I still think the FFH is a wonderful car...just not worth
the money compared to a Prius or even the regular
    drive Fusion.

We've got plenty of posts about how Toyota can improve the Prius without someone blaming Toyota for their complaints related to their own lack of research before they bought their car.
