i WISH i could test drive the GS hybrid. i've driven the RX hybrid and i realized that car has unrelentless power... it's like having a giant rubber band to launch you anytime you touch the gas... at any speed... (where normally you wait to "launch" in a traditional car) the GS is the fastest hybrid Lexus makes... i thought the 0-60 was 5.2... maybe that's the older model?....
btw.... a lexus shouldn't really rattle.. ever... during the design process Mark Levinson takes the car and re designs the interior of the cabs for acoustic purposes.. (sound staging and rattle prevention).. they hand the car back to Lexus and then lexus alters the interior shapes to accommodate Mark Levinson.... even if you're car doesn't have Mark Levinson audio.. it's still "compatible" with that system therefore it's been through the treatment (since it's "pre factory") on the RX i used to abuse, every once and a while, there was only 1 part that rattled... the door cubbies. they Did have rubber pieces in there to keep that from happening.. but i like bass...
Well this car defnitly has the Mark Levinson because it has a big logo on the HU and on the car specs sheet. The 18 inch weel not bad either but the 40 lower profile tire will hurt a bit. Definitly 5.9 Seconds. I don't know any non sport Lexus can do 5.2 seconds? They only reason the can achieve the 5.9 second is because of the power from both 3.5L V6 together with the Electric Motor power. So I don't think the older non Hybrid model can achieve the 5.2 seconds. Actually I don't think they never broke the 6 second barrier before the Hybrid came into play.
You don't know that poster? Everyone had a fit when he bought a Fit instead of a Prius but he's still a regular here.
When I put the Prius into power mode it has all the power I could every use. I easily pass 4 or 6 cars in seconds.
Here's my opinion. I like Prius Chat. At least in the relative short term, after months and months of personal debate and analysis, I decided to purchase a Honda Fit instead of a 2010 Prius. I, much like yourself, initially thought that should end or severely limit my involvement with Prius Chat. But if you haven't noticed Prius Chat while a Prius Enthusiast website, it's also more than that. It's Enviromental discussion, EV, Hybrid and entire industry. You have owned a Prius, you will still own a hybrid. I don't think you should feel you can't or shouldn't participate within this site. Infact, some owners might disagree with me, but I think there is value sometimes in an honest opinion from someone who doesn't own a Prius, who isn't coming from the P.O.V. of one of the fully converted. Even for myself, I'd say that my obsessive hanging around of Prius Chat has given me a good detached, informational knowledge of Prius. I try to NOT comment on a issue or thread that I think is about something ONLY an owner would be able to comment on...such as "Where is this rattle coming from?" type threads... I'm sure there are some posters, owners that ignore or totally discount my opinion. That's fine. But I myself believe that as long as your opinion is sincere and not based on simply childish trolling, I believe there is actual added value to having a voice or two that comes from a non-ownership perspective. So as a Non-Prius owner myself...I would stay stick around.
Kudos to you. It is good to have nice people around. I myself will still come and check once in a while but I just won't find myself too involved in the Prius chat. But I must say I really think this is one of the best forum for any car! Great atmosphere.
Congrats on the purchase of the GS450h! It is an AWESOME vehicle. I had a lot of fun driving it a few years during an Earth Day event at a local automall. I took advantage of the event to test drive the GSh without a salesman onboard. Yes, the boot is tiny but it's like having your cake and eating it too. You can drive economically during the weekday and put a smile on your face on Sunday.
Posted on wrong account, lol once again this is from brad_rules_man. Yeah, enjoy the car. It's really sweet! You have to stay around and post about it. Many here will be dying to know about the car. I'm actually jealous you scored that deal. If I could get a loaded lexus hybrid and not pay any or very little to upgrade, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Thanks Tideland. I am still waiting for the car to be ready. I hope it is awesome because otherise I don't know what car is out there for me. We don't get a lot of the cool cars compared to the US. My options are limited.
I guess it is a good deal. however, at the same time I am also a bit reluctant because I know this car's depreciation is huge. Meaning that I will lose a lot of money for it after a few years. Oh well life is short. Better to enjoy it and not think too much about it.
lol... And we're thinking the same thing.. although in Canada, we're more open to small, funky cars (and small cars in general). Our best selling car is the Honda Civic, followed by the Mazda3 then the Corolla (3 and Corolla often swap places). In the US, it's the Camry... I don't know what's 2nd. It used to be the Taurus 10 years ago... maybe it's the Accord now?
