I just got informed by the Service person handling our car's case that the computer failed to reboot and that they had to replace it. Since the car is still under factory warranty, we didn't have to pay for it but we still have to pay for the fuel injectors & labor.

Does this still look like a "dirty" gas problem?

No. It sounds to me like a computer problem, which your dealer misdiagnosed as a fuel injector problem. Now they want you to pay for their mistake.

It's highly unlikely that the "computer" (are you referring to the engine ECU?) failed at the exact same time that all four fuel injectors were clogged. I also would challenge that story.

Maybe the dirty fuel clogged up all of the logic gates.

DTC P3190 is produced by the engine ECU and tells you the engine has low power.
DTC P0A0F is produced by the hybrid vehicle ECU and tells you the engine failed to start. The engine ECU and the fuel injection system are the suspects.

Is your car back in service now?

So, did you have to pay $2K - or were you able to convince the service dept manager that you should not have to pay for the fuel injectors being replaced needlessly?

You should NOT have to pay for the incompetence/sloppy workmanship of a Toyota repair shop.

I agree, I think that you have a reasonable basis to complain, on two counts:

    1) the fuel injectors likely did not need to be replaced, given that the engine ECU was replaced at the same time
    2) $2K is an exorbitant price, considering MSRP of each injector is $163 and it probably takes 3 labor hours for the job.

Not to beat a dead horse, but you really shouldn't be paying for this. Take it to corporate.

I didn't do anything, I cannot argue over the phone nor I want to go to Tuscon to talk to the dealer. I just eat the loses and have the car back for my daughter. I did check the BBB web site in Tuscon about this dealer and found several complains about them. There are two Toyota dealers in Tuscon, if you check the BBB and you can find out who they are.

You can argue via email! Not my business but I hate seeing you screwed by some jerks in a shop that don't want to admit their mistake. This is a cover up by a maint dept who doesn't want to get in trouble. Did you speak to the manager of the dealership? Start there and warn of the complaint and they might move. Many don't want complaints filed w/corporate offices and will bend. You have the smoking gun as obviously the computer failing is not just a coincidence ....it's the reason!

This is worst than the highway robbery....$2k for this dubious fix?!
Who knew you may actually fueled with murky gas with sands in it, but that's what the fuel filter's for....FILTER the crap out. I'm surprised they asked you to replace the injectors but not the fuel filter also? (in worst case, the whole fuel tank first?)

It sounds like this dealer(stealer) is trying to profit your car's problem in both ways: from Toyota factory warranty (ECU replacement) and you (unnecessary Injectors replacement).

Definitely need to bring this case to Toyota Corp, asking for a seperate investigation.
