Prius Owners Poll - What do you do for a living?

I'm retired from the Fire dept. My wife (principal driver) is an Administrative Secretary at the local college.

 

I am an environmental scientist (working as an entomologist) and will start working on my masters in environmental engineering this fall.

My BS concentration was Aquatic Ecology (my minor was geology... my Prius has hauled a lot of rocks- not big ones but cool ones!)

My MS concentration is also going to be water issues...

 

i work as a dead horse; i take calls from people telling me how they are not responsible for the usage of their cellphones because they did not know that they were supposed to read their customer agreements and confirmation notices, or they did not know that the advanced mulitimedia phone they bought for their 12 year old could rack up charges equal to 3 times their normal bill if no restrictions were applied, (if your son threw a baseball thru the window of your neighbor's house, would you expect the baseball manufacturer to pay for the window??. idiotic question you say?? LOL!!....so little do u know!!)

and occasionally, i adjust their bill due to mistakes we made. it does happen, but you will be surprised how little it does happen. all i can say is, if you sign something, u better understand what that piece of paper (or electronic form) says. if there are terms and conditions to read, READ IT!!

I'm a Technical Services Manager for an audio visual company. Basically sales, design, and account management in corporate AV.

Wife is a Grade 2 public school teacher.

 

How about hiring somebody who can write it in a readable fashion? Why does it take 18 pages of small print to describe a simple contract?

BTW, I'm an embedded software engineer (C/C++ & RTOS).

(Since this said Poll in the subject line, I thought there'd be an actual poll that we could vote on).

 

could u justify a $150 per hour salary if all you wrote was something a typical 7th grader could write?

Awesome, I never saw this thread before. What a diversity.

I am an IT Specialist for the federal gummint (legislative branch) and specifically a systems analyst. However, I do the following jobs:

Business Analyst
Systems Analyst
Systems Designer
Database Designer and Developer
Programmer
Project Manager
Systems Administrator
Information Systems Security Officer
etc.

With the budget shrinking, I will be doing more and more of these sorts of jobs. I can also look forward to my next raise in two years.

 

Work in IT.
