I have mine 15% (not legal) all the way around including the lower back window. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Google HuperOptik... this is one of the best (if not the best) window tint/film out there. Used it in my BMW and it works keeping the Vegas sun at bay.

Don't fall for the cheapo stuff that only darkens your windows but still let the heat and harmful rays of the sun damaging your interior.

    Goodluck! :)

You must be really young. After many years of owning cars, I've progressively gone from having all around 5% tint to now all around 35%. 5%-->20%-->35%. Maybe I'll go to 50% one day!

It was just too hard to see the surrounding at night time, specially when you're in an intersection with a million people crossing... 35% is okay for now.

Your probably talking about the front quarter in which case you are right. They did not tint that saying it was illegal here or something. 35% is the darkest legal you can have all around in Illinois. I mean ya I wouldnt mind going a bit darker but honestly dont need to. The 35% serves its purpose very well and I think it looks classy. Also darker equals less vision at night.

I don't think that's right. Front quarter is essentially front side windows. They must have considered it part of the windshield, which it isn't.

oh ok...haha i thought everything was done 35%. Illinois just recently revised their law if I understand correctly. Just recently.

Either you can have whatever you want on the rears, and keep the fronts clear (no tint), or you can have 35% all the way around (cannot be darker than this).

someone was telling me that from Illinois and got his redone b/c of the change.

But it has 35% all around (except the front quarters), doesn't it? Doesn't seem consistent with "if you have below 30% tint in the rear, you cannot have front tint."

not sure b/c I don't live in Illinois, but I did glance at the new regulatory change in window tint. I also was not sure how the mini quarter glass was classified. I thought that it was considered a 'front side window', and not 'windshield', but to be honest I am not sure. With standard cars that don't have the mini glass, that is what I believe the law is.

I'd make 100% certain you know what it is though. Illinois cops are jerks. This guy I know had his done all limo or whatever around. They pulled him over and made him razor off the front windows on the side of the road which is b.s. IMO. I can understand a ticket, but it is not easy to remove tint without the correct tools.

I also heard IL tint tickets are $250 which is equally as ridiculous.

I was just at my tint shop 10 minutes ago...Anyways, I asked the owner if I shouldve gotten 5% for my 2 back windows, since I like more privacy and 18% bleeds a little light.

The owner said that he talks everybody out of the 5% limo tint. He says lots of people think they have the limo tint on their current car, but actually over time, their 5% tint has faded so now it looked like 15%. Then they get 5% on their new car and are shocked at how dark it is. When you're looking out the 2 back windows to back up at night, you're basically blind. He says all it takes is for you to hit one thing. You might damage/dent your car and you'll be pissed. It's just not worth it. He doesnt even put 5% on his own cars.

Also, the last thing you want is to be worried about changing lanes when you are on the freeway etc, at night. Say youre on the left side of the freeway and need to get all the way to the right. You dont want to be guessing, "is there a car there?" (in your blindspot) and go.

    I remain happy with 18%.
