wow! the Altima Hybrid now has $5000 of incentives in CA and OR

When posting a response to http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/80763-tax-incentives-buying-new-prius.html, I noticed that thanks to West Nissan Dealers Altima Hybrid Offers - 0.0% APR - $279 Lease - Nissan USA, there are $5K of incentives on the NAH. I put in 95120 (where I used to live), 92101 (a random San Diego zip code), and 90024 (UCLA's zip), 97229 (a Portland zip) and it's available in all those areas.

If Nissan isn't renewing them (I have no idea if they will or if they've been doing this for awhile now), then one better act fast. $1K of it ends 5/31 and the other $4K ends 6/1.

Then there's the $2350 Federal tax credit (New Energy Tax Credit for Hybrids). I think both these together make the car quite a bargain.

If you're in the the market for a hybrid, the NAH is available in your area and you don't need Prius-class mileage, it wouldn't hurt to try your own zip in the above page. The 198 hp is nice too. :)

I see more and more of the HAH in Sacramento. I won't be in the market for another hybrid until the Prius is worn out.

Which one? The HAH or the NAH? It's extremely rare to see HAHs since they sold in such tiny numbers before they were discontinued.

Oops, typo. I meant NAH, but I do see HAH every so often. Unless its the same one, usually black.

I also see many Honda Insight II lately, at least one or two per day.
I guess it is also discounted heavily as low as $17.5K, a lot cheaper than the Prius II at $20.5K.

I've seen more HAHs than NAHs.... Sightings are 5 to 1 right now (yup, I've only seen one NAH in real life). Dealers didn't even stock them when they were new.

I see a # of Insight IIs around here in WA state, but Priuses still outnumber them, not surprisingly.
Wow. I see no NAHs up here in WA since they don't sell them up here. Well, one dealer sorta does. When I was in CA, NAH sightings were fairly common.

One of my CA friends is getting an NAH real soon. He initially passed on this but his old Acura Legend is having problems now and he doesn't want to spend the $ to fix it. The CA incentives are only $4K right now.

(I didn't ask the specifics but...) He was considering a Hyundai Sonata and a Chevy Malibu but interestingly, both were more expensive than the NAH, after incentives and before the Federal tax credit. For the Malibu, I joked, no wonder GM went bankrupt!

These things are quite cheap now. Locally I can get an 07 with 35k for $14k or 08s with same miles for $16k.

The $5K of incentives on the NAH are back again. It looks like $500 of it ends today, 9/6 but other $4500 ends on 9/30.

Ok, since my post (prior to today), I'd seen at least one or more NAHs over the last few months, in WA. They might've all been the same car (darker grey).

Today, I saw what I thought was the same one since it was the same (?) color but it was a brand new NAH still w/dealer placeholder for the license plate and temp permit in the back window. Yay!

It was sold by Auburn Nissan (of Auburn. WA). That'd make them another (?) dealer. The other dealer that sorta sells them is Campbell Nelson Nissan of Edmonds, WA.

They don't sell them new here, but there is a used on at the local Nissan dealership, they want $16,995 for it, it's an 07. Not sure what options it has, but sounds a bit steep given what they're selling for on the west coast. You can get a prius cheaper here than the west coast, so not sure why they want so much for the Altima...

It looks like the credit doesn't apply for 2010 models ... just 2011's.

    http://www.irs.gov/businesses/article/0,,id=223736,00.html

I wonder why that is. And ... the tax credit window ends this December. Production for 2011's starts this month so you'd only have a 90-ish day window to take advantage of the credit.

Huh? It does apply to 2010 NAH's. See 2010 Model Year Hybrid Vehicles (as of 01-04-10) and http://www.irs.gov/businesses/corporations/article/0,,id=186772,00.html. I just noticed that the 2nd URL also lists the sales to date.

Oh I see. Um, one of those links appears to simply be prior sales ... but yea, the other does show the new purchase/2010 qualifies, so that's a good thing.

I saw the same $5k incentive advertised here in PA and also a lease - zero at signing, 36 month for $199 per month.
