I'd heard about this incident awhile ago but the lawsuit is new.

I think it's funny, personally. I fly occasionally for work - not as much as I used to - and I find it extremely hard to believe that someone could sleep through the landing and unloading. Also, I've seen people on trains and planes nudge the sleeping person to tell them it's time to get off.

Maybe she should sue the person who was sitting next to her for not nudging her.

I like how she was "locked" in the airplane... don't those things have emergency exits (which i would think by definition couldn't really be locked).

The fact is... how did the flight attendants walk out of an aircraft that wasn't emptied of all passengers.

    She should sue.

As for folks that don't know about getting sleep on an airplane, some folks can close their eyes riding in a jeep going over sand dunes and into gullies and not wake up until they are told too...

She shouldn't have been left aboard, and those that walked off without ensuring every passenger was offloaded should be disciplined.

I agree the airline was negligent. But what are the damages?

Maybe her "doo" was messed up in the extended nap... and then there's that locking her in thing...

One problem I have with it is she had her phone but didn't call for help... it must have been a good nap to not wake up until the cleaning crew got on-board...

This will go to arbitration and UAL will pay to avoid any further bad publicity, which is not needed at the moment.

The CNN story has more detail. Sounds like an extreme delay on the connecting flight, and that she was detained and interrogated by TSA.

She slept through most of her ordeal. The plane landed at 12:30, she woke up and looked at her phone at 3:00+, so she is suing for 25K to 75K for less than 1 1/2 hours work. I'll do it for far less. If she wins the lawsuit, part of the settlement should be she is banned from ever sitting by the emergency exits.
