Early Oil Change intervals ?

WRONG ! Actually I Do Not mean a "micrometer", because that would be a tool used for measuring the thickness of materials in thousandths of an inch. I've owned one for decades. It looks like the letter C with a handle projecting down like a backward question mark( ? ) Microns are a term used to measure. Take a look at the site for Amsoil and read the measures used in their explanation of By-Pass Oil Filters, they Too refer to Micron sized wear particles, because the Amsoil By-Pass filters filter particles as small as 3 microns. We can't all be wrong !
I just figgured that if oil filter people, like AMSOIL used the term of measurement in explaining the size of particles the oil filter can and can't trap, I should use their description because they would know such things better than you or I.

Maybe you should call AMSOIL, tell them they're wrong.

 

Unlike You, My goal, is to advocate the easiest and cheapest way to be certain the new engine in my expensive new Prius is undamaged during its wearing in, as much as possible. That requires spending a few bucks on the best oil filters, 100% synthetic oil and adding two additional oil changes to the new engine before it runs that critical first 5000 miles referred to as 'wearing-in'. Any person, old lady, not mechanically inclinded person, handicapped person, etc. can do it because it's Easy, effective, no 'special tools' needed, no mailing out and waiting for samples, and it has the benefit of documentation from the dealer should you ever need to prove that you spared no expense in caring for the new engine, and that you thus exceeded the bare cheapest minimum for the good of the expensive new Prius, especially while the engine was being Broken-In. :amen:

I have no problem with what you are doing. I was making the note that your actions are based on what you "postulate" is happening in the engine and my actions were based on what was actually occurring in the engine.

It's like someone telling me they mow their lawn everyday to have the best lawn. How does one respond?
