    Bulbs used:
License plate AND front map lights AND door lights - WLED-xHP5 (the X is where the color choice is substitued) Since I got white it would be WLED-WHP5 or for blue WLED-BHP5. (select white from the drop down menu)
Rear Dome Light - 3022 xBHP2-DI LED Festoon bulb - They only have it in blue. On the link below, press Ctrl and F to find"

    Great video.
And I think you should try installing the HID kit. If you could change out the bulbs to LEDs, you will not have a problem installing the HIDs. Good luck!

yeah your right. I really wanna do it, however.. I just can't decide on a good quality kit to buy. I think I've decided on 5000K. Just don't know where to buy one from. Anyone have some reccomendations? Thanks!

Look to the right of that vid on YouTube--looks like the 2011 Prius is available at Toyota Walnut Creek. :D

Will the WLED-xHP9 lights work in the map reading lights - or are they too big?

I think they would be a little too big. I think you should just be safe and go with the HP5's.

That looks pretty cool. I'm curious though. When the car senses the key outside via SKS now, the lights kind of fade in. With the LEDs, how does that work? Do they still fade in or do they just come on immediately. I guess it all comes down to how the prius is dimming the lights. I assume that if it is doing it by bringing up the voltage slowly, the LEDs aren't going to dim much. However, if it's doing it by manipulating the duty cycle (quickly turning the lights on and off at different rates), the the LEDs would appear to dim. Let me know, thanks.

With the LED's they work the same way. However, they "dimming" effect is just a little shorter. They do indeed still "dim". It's just a shorter amount of time than I can recall with the stock bulbs. So, yes - you do still get that cool effect when approaching the door or locking your car. The lights DO indeed dim. Would you like a video?

As a side benefit, I bet you could leave led map lights on all night long without the battery draining down.

I sometimes wait in my car for family members to shop or whatever and I read using the map light. I'd like to convert to LEDs but would like to know if you find them as bright as the factory bulbs when it comes to reading.

Great job! So you did the courtesy lamps too. I think if I did this mod, I would want white LEDs throughout. You might as well do the hatch compartment light too. The original is too dim so an LED would be perfect back there. BTW, are the tail lights LEDs from the factory? I know some American cars went with red LEDs to reduce power consumption. Anyway, thanks for the video - is your color Pearl White? I can't really tell on my screen.

I actually did not change that light. I think it looks nice as it is. I'm not so sure how easy or difficult that mod would be.
Your probably right! The LED's use much less power so I'm very happy about that. I won't have to worry as much now if I keep my lights on for an extended amount of time.
The factory bulbs are no match for the LED's regarding brightness. That's a fact, not an opinion. I can gurantee that they are brighter and will give you that "extra" light you are looking for. Once you go LED you never go back.:)
My plan was to go white all throughout - however the only bulb that would fit in the rear dome light was a blue bulb. I have found a white one elsewhere though and it has arrived. I may put that in. I have not used the hatch light ONCE though. Not a problem for the video - and yes my car is Blizzard Pearl/White.

This is my first "hatchback" - I really like it but wish Toyota would have:
    1) Added a hatch release lifter say next to the fuel door release lifter by the driver's seat.
    2) Had an automatic switch so when the hatch opens, the light comes on much like a traditional trunk light works. Then an LED would be great back there.

Hatch release level sounds like a clever idea. I also like the idea of the automatic light. If it was automatic then I would most likely replace it. However, since I have to turn it on I probably wont. Like I said, I never use the light. I'm normally in and out of the hatch within five seconds.

Did get a chance to try it out - they BARELY fit - look AWESOME! How do I get at the license plate bulbs - I can get the covers off, and unclip the wire, but I can't seem to get at the bulbs.

LulzChicken, can you tell us the part number of the white light you found for the rear dome light and your experience if you do end up replacing it?

Yeah... I tried the four LED version which is the same length - but it won't fit in the socket... so I think it's just a touch too large (unless there is a method to English it into the socket)
