2010 Shop manual

Below is a list of the manuals that I could find. I got the website from a local dealer to by manuals for a motor swap I am working on. I used the part numbers for the year vehicle I am using the motor from to order manuals. The prices were pretty much what was listed. I just can't believe manuals for a 2010 Prius are nearly $1000.

Yes, these prices are way out of line. Only the most advanced repair facilities could justify the cost. We owners are out of luck.

Ebay yanked this listing. I am not sure if it is the real thing, but someone probably complained about copyright infringement. Lots of people copy others material and put it on CD and sell a few hundred copies before they get caught. Fast money:

Well, I think I spoke too soon, sorry ... our Italian friends seem
to just have the owner's manual so far, not the service manual,
but that's one of the first places I'd expect it to show up
at some point.

I ordered it just before they yanked it. I got a notice that it shipped just hours before eBay sent a message that the item was withdrawn and pulled it. The disk came a few days ago. There are 7,520 pages in the file, no index and the links do not work. The pages that are there do look like the service manual. Could be interesting to try and find something. For $25 it was worth a shot.

Is it a searchable PDF?

 

Can someone with the schematics check for the rear hatch switch location and type? If it is magnetic, I would like to disable it from beeping when driving with the hatch open. Thanks.

 

I downloaded & printed to PDF from TIS and then just merged all of the files together. If you have the Pro version of Acrobat, you can make the file text-searchable by running the OCR add-in. I did this to the service manual, navigation manual, and the owner's manual (so I could look it over and get ready when I pick up my Prius in a couple of weeks). It's not hard to do, just need to have the correct software.

 

Two comments:
1) If using IE, there should be an option to "save" a website as an archive - this will have your browser automatically follow and download all the links (hopefully not using JavaScript to do it) and create a replica of the website on your local hard drive, then you can surf as if you were online.
2) Alternatively, there is a free FireFox add-on (and I believe it works w/IE as well) called "FlashGot". Will follow links and download automatically as well, but may need further re-organization at the end.

Anyone try this? Is the website built using lots of JavaScript components such that a regular crawl looking for <A HREF> tags won't work?

 

it is showing 500 individual pages in TIS.. where does the 20-30 pages come from? I can't seem to find it in batches

 

One of the nice things about a paper manual ... no need for these various hacks and it runs on sun light or any artificial source of light.

I'm having difficulty using the site with my Mac. Perhaps that's the problem, but I can't find any downloadable materials, only web pages in the viewer. I would have to save thousands of html pages!

I have software that allows me to print to a .pdf file. I use that when saving pages.

But you are right, it is not easy to download voluminous sections of the manual. I suppose that is a deliberate design feature since Toyota is charging only $15 for two days access.

 

And they probably knew exactly how I ripped through their nonsense
and limited-item search results and buried/embedded links and
eventually "wget"ted myself a complete offline copy of the entirety
for various different vehicles, NCF and EWD and RM alike. It
was still one of the most frustrating "experiences" I've ever
had on the web, and Toyota can still *shove* that script-infested
"interactive viewing" model of theirs. I'm glad the hybrid-synergy.eu
people have the wherewithal to just hang the stuff out there in an
easily retrievable format; as tempted as I might have been to
do likewise I held back.

The only upside was a bunch of improvements to my local proxy
handler, used to pull fresh cookies out of the stream.
