What is the canister located in front of the driver's side front wheel on my 2008 Prius?
Appears to be damaged in my recent meeting (crash) with another vehicle that blew through a stop sign.

    :help:

That is the coolant heat recovery system canister. Its function is to store hot engine coolant. The hot coolant is pumped into the engine upon cold startup, to speed up the engine reaching operating temps. This reduces exhaust emissions during the warmup period.

Yep. That's it. Thanks a lot.
Mine looks a little worse for wear.

They are just over $1000 from Toyota and they usually go for about $300 on ebay.

For real? For a thermo bottle? What is the keyword or part number can I search with? Not having luck.

Certainly looks like the repair estimate is going to be big bucks.
The other driver was cited for a stop sign violation and excessive speed. Amazing how many "Advertisements For Legal Services' I've received in the last few days.
    I miss my Prius, though.

My poor Prius was a Total.
I picked up my new 2010 Package III yesterday, seems to be peppier and the seats are certainly more comfortable.
    So far, so good.
