OK, now try it going 94 mph. Preferably on a deserted road so the cops don't get you.

Yes 8000 to 12000 people die every year in GM vehicles for a variety of reasons such alcohol, driver error, drugs, confusion in old age, defective vehicles and driver inattention while texting among others. And yes there are a few isolated cases in which people die in Toyota's which also may be caused by a variety of reasons too such as dealer error, driver error, confusion in old age, driver inattention while texting, alcohol, and drugs among others.

But far more people die in GM vehicles than in Toyota vehicles every year. For whatever the reasons that fact can't be denied.

I read Westword here in Denver like I read the Onion. Investigative journalism by press release or by reading lawsuits.

I don't mind their politics (really not liberals but anarchists) but I don't get too excited about their weekly features.

Given the number of Toyotas on the road, if this were a systems failure, I think we would see hundreds of incidents each month. And there would be a few more driver/victims under 40.

I agree they probably have at least twice as many vehicles on the road as ford and probably three or four times as many as Toyota. What would you expect?

Yes Toyota needs to use its not inconsiderable resources and find out who Sikes is. As was noted by a previous poster he looks and acts like a COP, now retired. Helloooo.

'Hey Bud, you did good there.'

You cherry pick your data, I'll cherry pick my data. Ya can't win. :D The fact of total deaths in the US though remains a black smudge on GMs rep.

I doubt he was ever a cop. I don't think he would have acted so much like a mentally disabled 4 year old on the 911 call and embarrassed himself so much.

If this turns out to be a hoax like Balloon Boy, it could be a good thing for the Prius (and perhaps Toyota too).

Do you agree that a part of this toyota mess is the fact that toyota has presented itself as being so perfect? I do. They were living in a glass house. Not anymore.

True. For one thing it would get more press. The normal problem with retractions is that they don't get printed, or when they do, it's on page 87 and in fine print.

So I noticed in the NY incident, the airbags did deploy... so there should have been EDR activation.

Of course as I noted on another thread, the "it's electronic!" crowd will never be satisfied. They'll just move the goalposts and claim that the EDR is also flawed.

Explains why he has so much damn time to spend on a forum, regarding a product he dislikes.

I don't like GM vehicles at all, but I'll be damned if I will seek out a forum and and try to stir up the muck with fans of said "product". What's the damn point? All trolls should be shot and dragged out of these forums on their backs (figuratively speaking, of course). Why the lack of response from the moderators?

So Prius chat is reserved for Toyota loyalists? Does everyone you interact with in person have to share your views? Maybe this is what is wrong with this country on the right and the left. Drink the kool-aid or die. How about some honest conversations? Our political leaders on both sides of the aisle prefer to preach to the choir so to speak. The repubs all cheerlead on Fox news and the Dems go onto MSNBC to be praised by olbermann and co. Pathetic.

I have to begrudgingly agree with you on that point. I disagree with everything you've said so far, but damn it, if you have 4000+ posts, that must mean you are quite dedicated to muck stirring. If you love it that much, who am I to say you can't do do that?

I'll give you this, you're tenacious.

Um, the Prius is just a product, and not political view or personal ideology. Do we really need to tie in harmless/fun product support with "what is wrong with the country" today?

    Jeesh.

    Children lesson for the day:

People who will drink and drive; get involved in an accident as a result of a driver error or bad weather ONLY buy and drive GM vehicles. On the other hand none of these type of drivers ever buy or drive a Toyota and no Toyota driver is ever involved in such incident.

This lesson was brought you "free" by Professor Malone (no need to reply Malone - there is already way too much polution)

"What a Maroon" as the great philosopher, B. Bunny would say.

I am also surprised that such out and blatant trolling is permitted. Reasonable discussion, yes, but Maroon's posts aren't that.

Could you do that in reverse, in a parking lot, from a standing start, in about 10 seconds?
