Will 215/65/15 fit with the stock rims? Anyone have tires more than 195 on their prius?

205/60/15's work OK 215/55/15's might work.

You are probably going to rub on 215/65, that's like a minivan size tire

I don't know if they will fit on the standard wheels. That is a function of the width of the rim and I have no idea what that is. Maybe you should ask some experts, like at Tire Rack or Discount Tires. I have always found the guys at their 800 number pretty knowledgeable and friendly.

As far as rubbing in the tire well, I kind of doubt that will be a problem. The V doesn't have any different tire wells and it has a much larger wheel and tire. I sure wouldn't guarantee it, though. Let us know how it works out.

The tire is nearly 13" larger in diameter, I will put a bet that the rubber liner will come off soon.

What are you talking about? The diameter of the stock 195-65-15 tire is 25.0 inches and the diameter of the 215-65-15 tire is 26.0 inches.

That looks like one inch to me.

Your speedo will read a couple of miles per hour slow, though.

There is a very simple tire size calculator at miata net: Tire size calculator

    Try it.

Unless someone is giving you that particular size, the usual formula is to add one size in the first column and subtract one size in the middle. To do it right, go to the Miata site I linked in the prior post and look for the size that most closely approximates the diameter of the OEM tires so that your speedometer stays reasonably accurate. It should also be fairly easy to fit in the wheel well if it is close in size.

Side comment: I've been using that tire size calculator on miata.net since '99. Very handy.

You can use the Tire Size online tools or simply use this formula ...

    215 x .65 / 10 / 2.54 x 2 + 15 = 26" wheel/tire diameter :D
