The following post is OT. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Delta Flyer @ Dec 19 2006, 10:10 AM) </div> Nope. Detroit is dead. Have they come close to producing and releasing something exciting in the last few years? EV1 was the closest thing. Then it was killed. Have you ever watched 'Roger & me?' The next problem is that a lot of Gov't offices are already buying 'non-domestic' cars like the Prius. A large majority of the Washington State motorpool are Prii. The Olympia fire chief's has a few US gen. 1 and gen. 2 Prii. The ecology dept. has a few. ORCAA - Olympic Region Clean Air Agency - has a US gen. 2. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(VinceDee @ Dec 10 2006, 09:14 PM) </div> No no... There isn't a European country or American city or state where can find worse drivers than in Oregon! I'd rather drive with the French and Italians more than the Oregonians. Oregon drivers are amazing impatient and selfish. "ME ME ME ME... MOVE... Go faster... it's a 25 mph so you should go 50, because all of our roads are 50 mph and that's only how fast we know how to drive! - Oregon.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(oly_57mpg @ Dec 20 2006, 06:03 PM) </div> I've driven in Portland, and they didn't seem any better or worse than your average big city driver. Admittedly, I only drove there once, and that was about 12 years ago, but I was there almost a month so I got a pretty good feel of the place.
Re: Prius Police Car! And the siren gets around the deadly silent hybrid nonsense, while the flashing lights work for deaf people. This should be standard equipment for Prius. Tom
An unmarked or lightly marked Prius could catch a LOT of speeders. Speeders love to give a Prius a hard time.
No. There's another one in the front bumper. Methinks it's to do with the police lights. (i.e. it's probably a strobe light)
Re: Prius Police Car! From your comparison, I'm guessing you have never been to Kenya. You would praise Arizona drivers after driving from Nairobi to Nakuru.
Re: Prius Police Car! The NYPD has Priuses in its fleet: And Nissan Altima Hybrids too: And Ford Escape Hybrids as well:
Re: Prius Police Car! My alma mater (Northern Illinois Univ) has been using the Prius since 2004. This pic is from 2008: NIU Toyota Prius Police Cars on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Re: Prius Police Car! I like these police markings the best. It gets my vote for best looking Prius Police Car.
Re: Prius Police Car! Way cool! I would like to see some in Texas. Can you imagine the look on some jacked up 4x4 truck being pulled over by a Prius Police car?
Re: Prius Police Car! I was really surprised when my former Univ. bought Dodge Charger interceptors to police the 2 city blocks of urban campus. They spend most of the time crawling around sidewalks at 5 mph. (Way to use those V-8's guys.) Ford escape hybrid or prius would have been a better choice. Do these police Priuses run the police accessories (lightbar, siren, laptop, etc) off the HSD battery? Or do they have upgraded aux. battery?
Re: Prius Police Car! As long as the Prius is in Ready and not left in N, all accessories are powered from the HV system. There wouldn't really be any need for a larger 12V battery. Tom
Re: Prius Police Car! I was in NYC in Queens on Wednesday and I saw a Prius police car there. Couldn't get a picture of it as I was in traffic, but it was fully marked and striped and had the full size light bar on top..... the light bar was wider than the Prius. That was cool to see. Oops, just looked back at some earlier posts........ Someone already has posted pic of NYC Prius police cars. Still cool to see.
Re: Prius Police Car! The survey CNN posted 2 years ago shows Miami drivers as the worst in the country. Driving from Boca Raton to Miami (50 miles) everyday, I agree it makes you want to pull someone's eyes out. Most of my experience comes from driving in the Chicagoland-Wisconsin region, where drivers are usually quite nice.
Re: Prius Police Car! the Northern Illinois Univ is very good looking specially in front view..i suggest putting a car bra into it for a better look..hope i can see more of it..
