And I'm not referring to that tragic accident... That project team who was responsible for setting up the Olympic Cauldron must have been ready to commit Hari Kiri when it didn't work. Must have been designed by Toyota. (Don't flame..I'm just kidding about Toyota)
Re: The Olympics Oh Sh*t Moment The four standing there with torches looked like they were in pain....I felt bad for them- and even worse for the technicians who were likely below trying to get that fourth element unstuck...they eventually must have realized it was going to NOT work and that three would have to do. All in all, a fantastic show. The whales were amazing. I kept thinking to myself "Poor Canada- how the heck are they going to put on a show that doesn't pale in comparison to the Beijing opening ceremonies?" I think they did just fine!
Re: The Olympics Oh Sh*t Moment Yes, they looked pained. But they were in the know. Wayne Gretzky said they were wearing ear pieces and were informed a little while into the delay that there were technical difficulties and to keep on smiling.
Re: The Olympics Oh Sh*t Moment About two minutes into the failure, I'm pretty sure I heard a muffled gunshot from under the stadium. Tom
Re: The Olympics Oh Sh*t Moment I was surprised at the opening ceremony and how well it went... up to that point. you could see the confused look on Nash's face (confused? or maybe forced smile if Boo's right).
Re: The Olympics Oh Sh*t Moment Come clean the wee up from under my computer chair now Tom, you caused it.
Re: The Olympics Oh Sh*t Moment The engineering artistic and engineering feats were pretty amazing up to that point and those final moments were painful to watch. I really felt for the engineers/technicians responsible for the cauldron. Probably nobody would have really noticed if any of the other displays didn't quite work as planned but for only three of the four pillars to appear was a pretty obvious glitch!
