Raw, definitely. Free-range, grass-fed, even, straight out of the freezer. There's a bag of organ meat (not the liver) for her, too, waiting for me to make into a healthful dog food Darelldd was kind enough to give me the recipe for.
My beloved Sammie died 12/23. She was almost 15. I picked her up at the pound when she was 1 1/2 years old. She had been brought in as a puppy, adopted out once and returned. She was a joy and I miss her wet nose on my arm in the morning and our good night head butts! She always had a smile on her face for anyone passing by and being petted by strangers was expected! I cannot imagine ever supporting a puppy farm when incredible dogs are waiting at local shelters!
I'm sorry for your loss. Thanks for giving Sammie a good home. My girl Dingo has a similar background; she was adopted out of the county shelter at 8 wks old, then returned to SPCA when she was about 1 year old. I wouldn't take her back to the shelter for any reason, ever.
