    Dear Moderators:

This main forum is starting to make me sick!

I suggest the creation of a new sub-forum.

I suggest the main Forum be reserved for actual Prius enthusiasts.

I am tired of Buzz kills, haters, and trolls on this main forum. I am exiling myself to the accessory forum till I see a change...Whaaaaa.

Well, I had to move your post to the appropriate forum...what makes you think anyone would post in your proposed new sub-forum?

We're in an unusual period here with this massive Toyota recall, it will run it's cycle and we'll return to business as usual. People will still complain and rant, but those are often opportunities to educate and correct. I appreciate the input, but a 'rants' subforum would be a pretty futile effort.

A separate forum for trolls? Wouldn't that be awesome?! :thumb:

lol, isn't that the care, maintenance and troubleshooting forum? Or are you saying that we need to beef up the thread movements and start moving stuff from the main forum?

I'm starting to see shotgun posts from new posters, where they post the same negative postings under several threads. It may be frustrated new owners trying to find the right place to post, or it may be an organized attempt to flood the forums with propaganda. My tinfoil hat is starting to twitch.

Personally I think that when you create such forums you create friction within the membership. This is a car enthusiast’s forum. All other posting should be eliminated. What does the word enthusiast mean anyway? I for one would like to see anything that doesn’t have to do with Prii eliminated. Get rid of trolls as fast as they appear. This is a great place to discuss our cars and related positive issues.

Do you use the normal stuff, or the non-stick variety?

I go to the dollar store for my tin foil needs, so I suppose that would be the normal cheap variety. ;)

If I see one more thread about "brake/break" (bogus) problems, I am going to blow a gasket. Please, there is not a real problem here, it has AWAYS been like this, to some extent, Toyota just made the regen brakes work even better than the Gen1/Gen2, and all these newbies don't know what to expect/are clueless. It really sickens me.

    Start? I never stopped!

Merged at least a half dozen similar braking threads into the main Braking thread. That should at least put some focus on the topic in one place, and quit cluttering the main forum with more news links, etc.

Hear Hear! You are absolutely right! Get rid of any forum that has nothing to do with the Prius. Moderators would then only have to keep an eye out for the Trolls.

Priuschat started as an enthusiasts' site and then grew. At first, we had a few forums and we all sat around and patted ourselves on the back for being so smart and responsible. After everyone had complimented each other and we had achieved a high level of smugness, we ran out of things to compliment each on. So we started talking about other things we had in common like the environment. So we created an Environmental forum. Then it occurred to us that there are Gen1 and Gen 2 Prii so we created forums for each. Then we saw an election year and the influx of political discussions so we created the political forum. Then the 2010 was released so we created the Gen3 forum.

In short, what you see now is the accumulation of tens of thousands of people talking about the Prius and other things we all have in common (and some things we don't). PriusChat has grown into what it is because of all these things. I, for one, hope to never go back because I enjoy all that we have in addition to the Prius.

What I would ask everyone is to stop and really think about what you are asking to be implemented.

Yes, I understand that PRIUS chat, is primarily a Prius enthusiast website, but to label it as only that, I think is wrong. It's a fantastic portal for news about Toyota as a whole, Hybrid news, alternative energy, the entire auto industry...

Plus and more importantly, do you really not want debate? Does being enthusiastic about something mean you never question it? Do we shelter Prius Chat and The Prius in a world made of singing daisys and dancing flora? I personally think that's the wrong thing to do.

I consider myself a "fan" of The Prius. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to post something negative about Toyota or The Prius if I think there is something negative that exists.

Unfortunately, lately for Toyota that's been beyond the realm of normal.

I've been accused of being a troll, and I don't care what people think. I'm against censorship as a whole, even if it's as subtle as a "special place for those that think differently than us". Because the way I look at it, that's asking for the equivalent of a internet cyber "ghetto" where we can hide away the "different" that bother us.

Are there trolls? Sure. But my observation is that the Mods here do an excellent job. The "regulars" that frequent this forum also do an excellent job. If something is blatantly invalid it is quickly revealed as such. I don't think the uninitiated are being led astray by evil Prius and evil Toyota haters.

Furthermore, we are supposedly all adults here. Can't we expect debate and even cases of ultimate disagreement without needing definitions of exclusion to different realms or forums?

If a thread bothers you. Make a post revealing what bothers you...and then ignore it. Real obvious trolls reveal themselves in time easily. Then I leave it to the Mods to handle as needed.

To me when you are dealing with communication, debate, information and human beings the best thing to do is let the chips fall where they may.

The tagline for this site is "Press Our Buttons", I take that to mean come in here to discuss numerous things...good and bad, positive and negative...if sometimes that "pushes" your personal button? Deal with it...move on...The world has singing daisies, and dancing fauna but also tumbleweeds....exclusion limits the view for us all and IMO is a dangerous road to advocate for.

I think a forum for rants and trolls is a fabulous idea!!! FHOP is for off-topic, and FHOPol is for politics, and both can accommodate rants, and both have trolls (the latter more than the former) but a forum just for rants and trolls would be great. Sometimes you just want to blow off steam. People who write "you're" when they mean "your" or "it's" when they mean "its" or when you're angry because the telephone cord has gotten tangled again or the birds wake you up in the morning.

Prius Chat could become the first chat board ever to have a forum where trolls would be welcome.

However, posting in the Rants forum should not add to your total post count, since that could give seeming legitimacy to trolls.
