I’m so disappointed in this car. We took delivery June 2009 and have 7000 miles on it. So far we can’t get the “sudden acceleration or sticking throttle to happen. We can’t get the lose braking over bumps/rough spots to happen We can’t get the reverse brake thing to happen. We can’t get the squeaking brakes to happen. We can’t make it rattle or make squeaking noise. The damn Nav system always takes us to where we want to go when we program in a address. We couldn’t get it stuck in the snow we had. We were left out of the floor mat recall. Well we did have the blurry climate screen but the TSB from Toyota took care of that so now we’re stuck back at no problems. We feel so lonely and left out. Do you think we should call Toyota or NTSB to complain about all of this? Come on people we need some love here.
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III The car has clearly caused uncontrolled sarcasm. File a report ASAP.
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III Yeah, me too. I must admit having a car that does what it it supposed to do is like being the Maytag repairman. LOL
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I have to agree and add that I'm NOT getting that 32mpg some say...
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I "hate" mine , too! The worst problem I've had is when my daughter left the door slightly open, and a loud alarm rang while the viewscreen commanded me to "shift into park". It took me three tries at rebooting before I noticed the "door ajar" symbol. Human stupidity strikes again. Admittedly, the limited rear visibility can be annoying in traffic. I've experienced the "grabby brake" trouble twice when shifting too fast after startup and the bump/brake transition once in a rainstorm. Those minor bugs pale in comparison with the fun I've had driving the car with the sun roof open while getting 50 mpg. All cars have bugs. My '97 Camry sounded like an old taxi about one week after I bought it - no noticeable squeaks on my Prius. I won't even talk about the '87 Landcruiser's embarrassing gas mileage... The Prius is the best car I've had since my first, a third hand '77 Toyota Celica which made it past 200,000 miles.
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I feel your pain. If you want all of those features and benefits, trade in that Prius today on a decent 2 year old American made car (Ford, GM, etc.). Keith
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I feel your pain. There should be a lime (opposite of lemon?) law!
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I feel your pain my bro. My aftermarket Michelins have over 80,000 miles on 'em ... and still look brand new! That ridiculous! How's one supposed to remember where the tire dealers are after that long?! .
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I'm so sorry that you are having this experience. Not that it's much comfort, but be assured that yours is just one experience. Other more fortunate owners may have experienced a minor issue or two to complain about. With a little luck and sufficient petty determination, you may also be eventually blessed with some trifling issue that can be grown into a mountain of a problem. Until then, generic whining and free floating paranoia can be used to fill the void. I wish you better luck in the future, Tom
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I'm a victim. My car has had no* problems to complain about. Is there a class action lawsuit that I might be eligible for? *Well, ok, there was the alignment issue but that was fixed about 30k miles ago. Should have called a lawyer then I guess.
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I could claim to be even more hard done by, having bought at the same time and now reached 10,000 without incident. This was compounded by later disappointment of only having an oil change every 10K miles. However, I am not totally left out: in the first week I experienced the grabbing brake and later detected that momentary reduction in deceleration when going over a pothole. I suspect that Toyota deliberately tries to include a few idiosyncrasies to keep PC group members happy. As you appear to have been totally left out, I sympathize with your misfortune. You have every right to complain -- after all, everyone else does.
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III I think I've figured out why the OP hasn't had his fair share of problems. He accidently bought a "Pruis". This is NOT a Prius! The OP has bought a high quality knock off! Trade in that High Quality Pruis on a Prius and then await the pain!
I feel your pain I, too have been left out. We can't complain about anything with our 2010 Prius. Well, the gas tank doesn't fill itself and it doesn't have autopilot. There's two things. Oh, and Toyota Financial keeps expecting me to send in a payment every month. That's three. I think LRK's post is definitely in the running for post of the year.
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III Same thing here. I couldn't get the lower engine protection plate to fall off my car either, and to top it off, my radio works flawlessly, and people keep bugging me wanting to hear how I get 50 MPG+ out of it. I guess I'm just a loser that doesn't know how to buy a good car.
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III Yeah I just Don't understand why this car is soo cool...with the blue tooth capability and the JBL sound system that sounds better then my home theater...curse this car...I hate how quite it is too on the highway... and in power mode it actually has POWER? whats up with that? I mean oh yeah were writing a nastygram to Toyota on how much we "hate" this car. oh and the handling....grrr!!!
Re: I Hate My 2010 Pruis Model III i am only getting 50-60mpg..... toyota needs to make a service report about this. i expected the 70-100mpg what hypermilers get..
