Ran across this short Dutch video , Dear Wife insisted I share: Dutch Miracle Parking is Today's BIG Thing in Technology - JAN 28, 2010
He's a lucky man - he has a garage and it seems to be wider than most Dutch streets! I lived in the Netherlands for 12 months and the cars were mostly parked outside.
I remember parking my Explorer in the garage with all the crap that we have in there and it was almost that bad. I could barely get out of the truck. That was the last time it made it into the garage; now a table saw, bandsaw and jointer occupy that space.
Now that's a tight fit. I wonder how the passengers get out. Or did he let them out first, to go move the chairs? Did anyone else notice that he forgot to close the garage door?
I assume he would drop off the passengers outside. I assume he walks back outside to close the garage door. On the other hand, theft wouldn't be an issue. Who could steal anything from that tight space? Tom
That and the car is left in neutral, so that he can roll it back as he opens the door to get back into it. It is amazing. He seems pretty happy about it all, though, so Life Is Good!
Parking like that is easier than it looks. Provided you know the space is wider than the vehicle, you just need to hug the drivers side wall. You can see him sticking his head out to line it up. Now, if he pulled the e-brake and 180'd into the spot, then i'd be really impressed!
Seems to me he makes it more difficult than it needs to be. Pull in, put on the brakes, open the door to the garage, and climb out the car window. Why bother putting it in neutral just to open the car door?
