Here are a few pics from the Plug in Prius display at Detroit this week. Toyota had a nice display. When I was at the display, there wasn't anyone who knew any details about the car, so I have no extra infromation to report.

Most Japanese cars with nav have a TV option. For Toyotas, it usually comes with the top-of-the-line audio option.

Well that's what you want isn't it? You want us drooling like Pavlov's Dog at every upcoming advancement and rumored incarnation of The Prius.

Well I'll tell you, I resist manipulation. So why don't you buggers brown bag it or take a nice harmonious walk to lunch?

It's like when I was in 4th grade, I had a teacher that would catch kids chewing gum in class. When she had caught someone chewing gum she'd loudly question "Do you have enough gum to share with the whole class?" When the answer was inevitably "No" then the offender was made to spit the gum out infront of the whole class in the garbage can.

I once bought a big bag of gum, hid it in my desk, then purposely chewed a piece as loudly and obnoxiously as possible. When she queried "Do you have enough gum to share with the whole class?" I returned with a confident, "Yes, I've got a whole bag here. Should I pass forward or back?".

Needless to say the note to my parents was not cryptic, however the rules were made more plain, it was no longer a matter of sharing but simply that we did not chew gum in class. I lost a weeks worth of allowance and a large bag of gum but became class legend for a year. A good investment IMO.

Moral of The Story, If you don't have enough Prius to share with the whole class, keep it quiet.

No it's not, it's the current one.

The previous one did not have the access door on the front left side, and you can see the new Li-Ion battery on the trunk, wheel caps, front, etc, etc.

This is no 2G PHV, this is undoubtedly a 3G PHV.

For just a 5Kw-hr? Lithium battery pack, it looks awfully large? An interesting photo would be the new Lithium PHEV battery pack next to the existing 1.3 Kw-Hr NIMH battery.

It's not a 'real' photo of the batteries next to each other, but it shows the difference in size somewhat. On the sustainablemobility page, you can see photos of both battery packs, but there is not a photo of each taken from the same angle.

(The picture below needs to be clicked on so it isn't 'squished' looking)

    A few questions:
    1) Does it use the same electric motor as a Gen III?
    2) I remember Toyota saying that they ruled out Li-Ion batteries - guess not.
    3) Can it be retorfitted to a Gen II?

Thanks. Looks to be about a 3:1 size ratio. Since the Lithium battery is 5kw-hr and the NiMH battery is 1.3kw-hr, I was expected the lithium battery to be smaller since the energy density of of a lithium battery is much higher than a comparably sized NiMH battery.

I didn't mean that old lol.

I mean it was the 15" version that was first shown. The newer ones have 17" alloys.
