Junk Mail: How Did They All Get My Address? | Privacy Rights Clearinghouse Junk Mail - How to Stop Receiving Junk Mail I know there have been a few threads about junk mail over the years but think the last one was at least a few years ago so felt it worth repeating for the new folks. I was clicking around and found these. I realize this has been available for a while but somehow I've missed it. I wonder what they would do if I told them I'm dead?
It's best to get your name listed (or unlisted) on the "pre-approved" and "target marketing" lists. Another way to reduce your junk mail intake is through halting all 3rd-class mail to your residence. However, this is an all-inclusive broad brush. Most catalogs ship 3rd-class which means you won't get the ones you want to get.
You will start getting junk mail from crematoriums and funeral homes. :madgrin: Short little story: When we bought our house, it had a decommissioned pool with a deck built over the top. We did not want to spend the money to rebuild it (at least as much as starting from scratch) so we hired a contractor to fill it in with dirt. We still get advertisements and junk mail from pool supplies, pool remodelers, pool maintenance companies, etc. We had it filled in about 7 years ago.
Mine goes into the recycling or the compost. Sometimes I put it in a pre-addressed postage-paid return envelope so thoughtfully provided by one of the advertisers.
How can you get all third class mail halted to your residence? Is it a form at the post office or something?
I was not too uncommon in days gone by, to tape the "business reply mail" card to a brick, and drop them in the box. The receiver had to pay postage on an 8# brick! We have stopped nearly all our junk mail, but getting on the do not mail list, as well as unsubscribing to every catalogue that comes that we don't want.
I know many would consider it bad luck but when I moved my mom to a Board and Care from my home I started putting deceased on her religious donation seeking crap mail. They really suck off these older folks and if it has a saint's name on it my mom would send a few dollars. Then they just keep sending more and more and sell her name to others. I know my mail man must think I am on vacation half the time as I only pick-up mail now every 1-2 weeks, everything is electronic for me.
No junk mail? . . . say you don't mean it! Where would I get my free fire logs from then ... if it wasn't for junk mail: Make your own logs Low on fuel? Get on more mailing lists! .
I was wondering how long it would take someone to catch that! This is only the second poem I've ever written and I wasn't sure whether I was being too subtle.
Trees -> Junk mail -> shredder -> compost -> garden -> vegetables -> dinner -> body -> toilet -> sewer -> reclaimed fertilizer -> Trees :madgrin:
