Prius Trim Plate from Metra

    I called Metra and asked when the Trim Plate Kit would be available. They cannot give a date but they told me if more people call asking for the Prius trim plate the faster they will produce it. He said they document every call, so more calls the faster it will be done.

    Just called....they also said the surround would be an exact match in terms of the textured finish to the OEM surround

    The dash kit has been released and will start shipping in 2 to 3 weeks. Cost is approx $20. It should have the same tecture as the dash.

    Can't wait to see a photo...if it has the dash texture then its definitely the piece...now I just gotta figure out what head unit I want to put in there...

    The Scosche website is now showing they have the kits in stock. Not sure on if it has the same "brushed" look to it.

    The picture on scosche did not match the texture. Metra says it's piece does. If metra may take 90 days I may put in a scoshe, then change out for metra if it looks better. It looks like it would be a easy change. Can those that have replaced head units confirm?

    What speakers and amps are best to use. I can't figure out whether to put in squawkers ( midrange to tweeters in dash location). I saw that lexus dealers have mark levinson squawkers for $90 each. I can not find the cross over frequency.

    My suggestion is to wait on the speakers... Try the OEMs with the new HU. I was very happy with the sound. I would consider new tweets though.

    I just ordered the Scosche from their website. Should be here early next week $29.95 plus tax. I have the UK trim plate and the Metra inserts but it has been a challenge to get this to all line up with my NX7000 HU. Will see how it all works out.

    Keep in mind, in September, they were going to have it in Nov/Dec. Now it's mid-January, and they're saying 1-3 months. I wouldn't hold my breath.... If the part was 'released', that likely means the final drawings are done.

    Plastic molds take 2-3 months - and will generally tend towards 3+ before a final mold is finished. Then add shipping and handling of the new product from China... Depending, it may be a bit more than stated...

    Metra will cost approx $20 and will match the dash, Scosche is just flat black.
