Uh, yes, it is. One season of snow is weather, not climate.

FWIW - I can also confirm that it's been unseasonably warm. Average daily high around here is in the low-mid 60s this time of year. It's been 70-80 for nearly two weeks, now. But I can't complain. Shorts and t-shirts for me. :) I'll enjoy the weather while it lasts.

Anyone that looks at decades is looking at climate, anyone who says "boy it is cold outside" is looking at weather.

Here is my climate forecast for Western Washington. It works almost every year.

The day before the first High School football game, it will rain. It will rain until Dec 27 and snow one day*, missing a white Christmas. Then it will rain until July the 5th, messing up the fireworks.

Then it is sunny until High School football.

*About once a decade the wind is from the east when it snows and it lasts a week, not a day.

The NOAA CLIMATE Prediction Center predicted a CLIMATE change for Autumn of 2009 to be much warmer than usual. The CLIMATE for that period of time ended up being much colder than usual. Their CLIMATE models making CLIMATE predictions were completely wrong about the CLIMATE.

Fortunately, this is why science relies on data and not on anecdotes.

    You mean this one?

Yup. You have to realize this: the majority of the people on this board truly believe that they are helping save the world by driving a Prius. The guy Shawn Clark who freaked out and cussed you out, etc, spends his life counting toilet flushes to minimize his water use. The idea that global warming is hurting the globe and that if we can "just pass this cap and trade tax" is ingrained in some of these peoples brains.

They will be chanting "global warming!" as they freeze to death.

From now on when someone posts something that is just beyond stupid I'm only posting a  icon.

    NvP,

200 pt type is just yelling!

RP, At least folks like Shawn Clark are committed to proactive and working to make positive changes in the world, addressing issues that they feel are important to them.(There are people who understand that their actions have an impact on the planet and because of this awareness, act in a way to reduce this impact as much as practicable). Unlike you who spends your day ridiculing people and posting the same old deniest drivel

Weather is what is happening in the atmosphere at this moment. Climate is the means and extremes of the most recent 30 years (1971-2000, 1981-2010, 1991-2020). Per the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) you need at least 30 years of measured data to analyze climate. You should have daily temperature, precipitation, soils, vegetation, insolation and other data for each location and not try to generalize data across large areas.

Extremes define climate, not means. For most locations there is no "average" climate. Schools teach Koppen, while Thornthwaite is a better choice. Thornthwaite is more rigorous and mathematically intimidating. Hence high school and university classes tend to blindly use Koppen. Media does not "get it" nor do they have the training or money to spend large amounts of time analyzing 30+ years of data. Media weathercasters spew out simple, short-term concepts, not long-term. The public and the deniers don't understand the basic concepts.

Science is not based on anecdotal information, but published, peer-reviewed research (The IPCC used 30,000 published papers for the latest report). Newspapers are glorified hearsay. No wonder the public is confused.

Lumping the IPCC and "peer review" together as of late is not going to help anyone spread the global warming alarmist point of view.

Climategate has destroyed any notion of true peer review involvement in any of the IPCC's data.

Copenhagen was a failure. Largely due to climategate among other things thank god.

AGW is nothing more than a huge PONZI scheme. Ol Bernie Madoff would be proud

Doesn't this post (and it's sister posts in the other thread(s)
(ad nauseum) Prove my point? You guys are either confusing weather with climate by posting like links, or you don't know the difference.

Or a final possibility, you are posting links like this knowing full well that they are weather, but because then make your "argument" "look" more reasonable you are indeed being deliberately misleading.

I leave it to others to judge.

A 30 year average is retarded. See below:

You are like a perpetual motion machine of FAIL. You have proven time and time again that you are incapable of reading a thread. Every example of "weather vs climate" you've posted has been simply because you can not read. There is no other way to look at it.
