After 3 or 4 years of missing buying opportunities and lusting after Prius in my mind, I have inked a deal to buy a Blizzard Pearl/Dark Gray III w/ NAV! The Tacoma is going in trade; I will miss her. New car is being driven in from another city, and is supposed to be here 12/18. It will be my wife's daily car, but I can borrow it and tend to drive most of the miles on trips. I get her CRV which is long in the tooth but serviceable for the few miles I drive alone. Guess I don't need that EV button I bought 3 years ago, huh?
If getting the maximum MPGs out of your Prius is important to you/wife, then suggest you read all the posts on the threads about fuel mileage. Driveing habits can be hard to change, but the Prius is one car that where fuel consumption can significantly benefit from learning some of the tricks of the trade. Know that mileage will be down quite a bit during ther Winter months (but down for every car on the road)...but if you take all the hints on this web site to heart, you can get over 50 mpg - routinely - even in the Winter. Believe it or not, slower is better, more traffic is better....short trips (1-3 miles) will hurt your mpg's, as the engine will barely have had time to warm up, thus reducing gas mileage. Oh, and the BIGGEST surprise for this newbie Prius owner - in the PWR mode, it's no slug, and can easily keep pace with most vehicles.
Congrats on your purchase! I've had mine for a little over a week now and absolutely love it! I'm trying to find errands to run just so I can go drive it.
Remember when you were a kid and just got your license? I feel the same way. Isn't it great that a car can bring out the kid in an adult...

Hey, I'm in the same boat. Just got and drove away with Model III Gray with Dark gray. Invoice+Destination=~22k + 2k tax,registration.
Congratulations. It's nice that she lets you drive it. I suggest that you do whatever you can to borrow that car from your wife. It's important to keep the engine in shape, or you happy, or whatever excuse you need to drive it...
