This will be interesting - it seems 50/50 on new HU making reliable reception - please note it carefully!

Yes, I plan to record (audio) the reception before and after to compare. I'll post the results.

Spidy - Yep, all of my steering wheel controls work. There is actually zero delay (which is an improvement from past experiences with PAC SWI's in previous cars.). Answer call, end call, voice activation, vol. up, vol. down, mode, track up and track down all work perfectly.

I DO NOT believe you can have PAC update your SWI, even though it probably is nothing more than a simple reflash. Like I said, call PAC and they can tell you who has the newest version. I got mine from HP Distributing (I believe that's the name of the place).

That is really good news about the responsiveness. There were a few posts out in other forums indicating it wasn't good.
Anyway, one more question on the SWI wiring... how did you tap into the car's 20 pin harness. Did you use those wire taps or what? And the wiring consisted of attaching the SWI white wire to pins 7 & 8 (with a resistor), right?
    Thanks again.

I have the JBL PAC adapter and it includes the wiring harness for the SW steering control interface (Including the required resistor) You still have to purchase the SWJACK1 module seperately which connects to the PAC harness and Prius 20 pin connector. http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SWI-JACK-Steering-control-interface/dp/B0015G6LPQ

Spidy - Yes that sounds right. Don't forget you have to ground off pin 6 or nothing will work. :)

I soldered ALL of my connections in the car. I was using taps at first and just wasn't happy with it. Solder is the best.

So does this mean that you can program one button for multiple functions ? For example, the track up and down (when using cds) also changes the radio stations when listening to the regular radio.

That is dependent on your Head Unit I believe. PAC just translates the button pushes for the HU.

Yes, any double DIN unit would fit. See my signature for a link to my DNX6960 install.
