I was driving the other night with my high beams on, when all of a sudden they both went out at the same time. I clicked it back to the low beams which still work fine.

Thoughts? Do I need to replace my headlights or could it be something else?

Sounds like a fuse blew. Was it raining?

If a second fuse fails, there may be a wiring problem.

I think your headlight switch has failed. The wiring diagram shows one fuse for each headlight (covering low and high beams.) The way that high beams are activated is by providing a ground connection via the switch.

My lights have started going out randomly. Sometimes it's just one; sometimes they all go out.

Took it to the Toyota dealer, and they could not duplicate the problem.

Drove home by turn indicator last night.

I have a different guess for jbond. Both hi beam filaments opened simultaneously. If so, both light assemblies should be replaced. Check it out and see.

I know this explanation sounds odd, but I had a simultaneous low beam filament failure.

I thought it might be a fuse also, but the weird thing is I checked the owners manual found the fuse box and where the fuse is suppose to be, and there was no fuse in the slot. And no it was not raining at the time.
