How do you reset the oil change indicator scale?

First - you need to hit the trip indicator button until you have "trip A" indicated in the display (I use this at re-fueling times)

Next - you will need to push the park button then the power off button - yes you will need to fully turn off the car.

Next - locate the MPH/Kilometers button on the dashboard. Press and hold down and then restart the car by pushing the power on button (hold both buttons down at the same time - when the scale is re-set, let go of both buttons)

Verify by looking at the scale indicator :mod:

    Good luck.

    Mr. Bill

    Mr. Bill,

Thank you so much for your instruction. It's just what I needed. I drove over 5000 miles in 6 weeks and the oild change message came up and I don't know how to get rid of it. Hope your instruction works. Thx.

I answered my own question. It works. I just tried and the reminder message disappeared.

    Thank you, Mr. Bill.

Thanks Mr. Bill, I've gotten my service done at the dealer where I bought the car but got my oil changed at a Ziffy Lube during a 2,000+mi long road trip I just finished and they couldn't figure out how to reset it after 30 minutes of trying and all they got done was reset eeeeeverything else while trying. (My GPS kept up with the miles traveled) Maybe they should check in at the PriusChat Forum every now and then. YES????
Or we could just post your phone # at all the zillions of locations around the world where they change oil - just encase anyone there has any questions.

** Title changed and Stickied **

May replace this thread w/ a more generic "how to" for basic maintenance reset items for this forum in the future, but this is a good one to find for folks who do their own maintenance.

Resetting is also posted in the manual on page 428. It would be nice of Toyota to have one section in the manual for all the resets and changes we can do on our own. One feels so handcapped with such a high tech car and so little we can for ourselves, without having to depend on the dealers.

The navigation system has a much better setup for maintenance reminders but it doesn't look like those interface with the dashboard display?

When you reset this reminder do you have any control over the interval: 2,500 mi; 5,000 mi; 4,375 mi, 10,000 mi needed? Can this reminder be disabled? ...by the dealer? I read the section in the manual and I don't think there is any variables--I'd rather disable it all together if that were only possible.

does the oil change light come on at 5k only for cars without nav? in the nav setup i set the reminder for 10k, but don't know if this is more like a memo to myself and separate from the 5k light you guys are talking about.

thanks this worked. Why did Toyota change the required maintenance to 10,000 miles for synthetic without telling you how to turn off the light?

Because they still want you to bring the car in every 5k miles for the other service items, ie rotate tires, check brakes, etc.

The service representative and the Service Manager at my dealer (Conicelli Toyota in Springfield PA) BOTH told me that there isn't any way to change the oil maintenance reminder to 10,000 miles The Service Manager told me that when I brought the car in for service (rotate tires) they would reset the oil maintenance reminder. Thank you, priuschat members, for telling us tips that the dealer won't tell us.
