3G Issues (CD, washer nozzles, creaks)

(1) No skips on my CD, after many many hours on a homemade WMA collection. But with a few hundred tracks on it, it takes about 15 seconds from power-on to making any sound.

(2) Now that you mention it, the washer nozzle does seem low, but so far not bad enough to bother me.

 

I haven't seen any problem with CD. I haven't seen that much cold/ snowy day this year yet and I don't have moon roof. But I do agree with washer being too low. And I want to add a squeaking problem after driving on a wet road. Have you experienced that?

As far as the moonroof creaking goes, the Camry's moonroof is a conventional design whereas the Prius' moonroof is of a panoramic design.

The conventional one is a cutout surrounded by metal. The pano one isn't a full-frame design and has to rely more heavily on gaskets for sealing. It's also more prone to flexing (and subsequent noise) by design. Nature of the beast, unfortunately.

(NB: You think yours is bad? Go drive a Pontiac G6 with the panoramic roof -- you can't hear yourself think in that car!)

 

I play MP3 and store bought CDs in the CD changer with no issues.

Having said that, in my previous car (BMW) the CD drive was a bit sensitive (also skipped on occasion), and the solution was to burn CDs at as slow a speed as possible, and I never had an issue after that. Give it a try.

 

The washers are designed to work best when moving. The air flowing up the windshield spreads the solution up the windshield. If the nozzles were set higher the lower part of the windshield would not get get wet at all when moving.

 

That sounds like the compressed audio bit rate. You want the slowest CD burn rate, which is a completely unrelated parameter and should be in Mbits/s even at the slowest 1X rate.

 

No problems with my CD's at all, but have had a share of them bad from when someone burned me some copies!

The Washers are OK, a little low but when your driving at highway speeds they are fine.

No sunroof but it doesn't sound out of the norm with some cars.

Tonneau Cover is just cold not big deal really...once your car warms up that is...but you could try a little silicone spray perhaps??

I have the same issue on my 2010 Prius. Even at minus 5 (C) the tonneau cover will not retract more than 60 %, and I have to manually feed in but not all of it. I will ask the dealer if this is "normal" and I have a strange feeling what the answer will be.....
In terms of washer spray, the pressure seems very little and when doing slow or normal speed, water will hit the wiper arm and only the indirect spray will reach the lower part of the windshield on both driver`s and passenger side. There is no adjustment ( i am used to the steel ball system which can be adjusted with a small needle) for this system, only a small rectangular opening in the plastic housing. Very unusual compared to other cars i I`ve had.
But, the Prius i quite "unusual" in many aspects, so maybe this is just one of them....

 

I noticed my car does something odd right around the 43 mph speed when slowing down via regen braking. Does anyone else notice that it seems to re-engage the trans briefly at this speed? It's almost like in a manual, letting the clutch out a smidge to where it catches, then releasing it really quickly. I really wasn't quite sure what to search for on this one, so if it's been discussed, please let me know.

 

My dad had this issue on his 2006 Highlander Hybrid. Sometimes in really cold weather it would not retract more than 30%. So he pulled it out all the way (it actually goes past the back of the trunk door!), then he sprayed silicone spray in the sides where the cover retracts into, where the gear mechanisms are on the left and right side. Left it for about 2 minutes, then he let it retract. Then voila, it retracts no problemo, for years now! Just a thought in case you wish to try!

If you are not happy with the height of your Prius' washer nozzle height, do what I did with my G1. Get a pin (you know the kind your mother used to sow your pants when you ripped them! Joking!), and put the tip into the nozzle. Then make a very minute upward adjustment. Trust me, a little movement goes a long way. Now I have my G1 Prius that have dual nozzles on each side, and each nozzle squirts fluid at different heights on both wiper sides, and I get a complete clean with very little fluid usage. I found it saved me at least a couple of bottles each winter.

Sorry for late response as for the above mentioned subjects...I have been talking to my dealer, and received a different set of nozzles. They have 3 different types, marked with one, two or three lines ( into plastic material)and all have a different spray angle. I received no. 3 and they will spray over the wiper arm and so, more fluid will hit the windsield. My original nozzles were no 1.
As to the Tonneau cover, the answer was as expected...normal in cold temp as the plastic ( vinyl) will be harder and spring tension lower ...Not my experience from other cars having analoge system though, but maybe I will persuade my dealer to replace it. They claimed no other customers have mentioned this issue, despite of a long and very cold winter so far this year...So, my Tonneau must be a poor sample and then should be replaced on warranty !

 

Keep the washer nozzles low. It pisses me off when on the freeway the car in front activates the washers and water gets sprayed all over my car.

 

I've had this problem with inconsistent wiper fluid pressure/height too... it's really been my only problem with the 2010 Prius.
