    Problem child,

Wow, those are nice looking seats! You must have some mad skills just to be able to mount them and wire into the harness (keep airbag / belt lights off).

I'm on a budget, but I have a Corolla seat being shipped in this week. I know a Corolla seat is not the greatest, but I figure if can get down 2" lower, put about 3/4" foam in flat portion of seat bottom, cover it with decent generic cover, it will help.

Mine is not too bad now, but darn it would be nice to be down an inch or so to have the correct sit height in the car.

    --------
Bit off topic, but the 2010 Pri seats do not stink. I did 120 miles on the cloth seat, and it was really good for me. Not going to take a $9k or more loss now though.

Ah yes, Swedish car seats. Without question the finest in the world. Germans come close, but the Swedes win.

Just another reason to love those Swedes.

I am the manufacturer of this product and I would just like to note that our brackets have just been re-engineered and we have addressed all of the initial concerns. The new brackets have received amazing reviews. If anyone has any concerns, please send me a private message. The new brackets have added 90 degree bends as well as additional sidewall on both sides.

Broken extenders; the original design is a hazard!

I now join those with strong concerns about the strength and safety of the extenders, at least insofar as the original design is concerned. Like Eddie Kent experienced, yesterday I noticed a break in one of the extenders. Today before I had a chance to remove them, both had sheared off completely:

This is with normal driving. I can only image how easily they would break under the stresses of a high-velocity collision.

Of course they're now out of the car.

I strongly recommend that anyone who has installed those made with the original design remove them immediately.

Griffin, I searched your web site for information and pics to see how the designed has improved. Frankly, it would take a considerable design change for me to reconsider them. Your brief description of improvements here does nothing to reassure me. Unfortunately the web site is of no help. If I'm missing something, please point me in the right direction.

Meanwhile, I have to join the ranks of those who recommend against these extenders. They are a significant safety risk as originally designed.

Re: Broken extenders; the original design is a hazard!

There has been a safety recall issues for the original Brackets purchases before 10/1/09. All brackets that were purchased before 10/1/09 will receive a new re-engineered replacement bracket to fix the issue. Thank you

What is the best place to purchase these in terms of price, and also who has the new revised versions in stock that don't break?

What ... still no reply? Ok, well PC of course ... if only 'because the peeps are nicer! As for who has the new product? Likely, everyone, except yours truely. Let me explain.

Interestingly, my, ExtendMySeat "First Article" pair (one off the original design sets, installed for testing) just began to show the tell-tale fatigue symptoms mentoned months & months ago. I have access to magnetic particle (crack) inspection equipment at work, and wanted to see how long they'd go. Since I'm over 210lbs @ 6'-5" and they took this long to fail, one can figure that the original product has no more than that much life in them. Ironically (and not realizing that I was one of the original testers), griffycprius PM'd me (because I'd mentioned my height in another thread) to see if I'd considered the ExtendMySeat product. I replied (in essencde), "Hey! Small world ... remember me?". That was a couple weeks ago. Guess it's time to ramp up the contact attempts.

Is there some trick to unplugging the 2 cables under the 2010 driver's seat?

If you can put a Volvo seat in a Gen II Prius, can you put a Gen III Prius driver's seat in a Gen II???? In my case, with side air bags.

If not, why not? Seems like it would be more compatible than a seat made for a totally different car from a different manufacturer.

My solution for inadequate legroom involved a trip to a local custom auto shop.
Kevin built for me a 'leg extension' and a pair of arm rests to make up for the cavernous distance between me and the steering wheel.
I'd post a picture, but the forum will not allow it. Soon, I will post my solution.
I must admit, if I'd know about the extension option, I would have tried that first.

Your best bet is to take a tape measure and flashlight down to a Toyota dealer. Look underneath at the electrical connectors, compare to the ones on your car. Measure the width of seat rails, mounts, seat bottom, etc.... 3rd gen rails like 1.5" wider than 2nd gen. You'd need a special electical and mechanical adapter to put it in a 2nd gen even if would fit ( would the seatbelt latch hit the center console?)

I would not be surprised if every distinct model of car - Civic, Corolla, Audi A3 .... the seats are totally different and will drop into another model. If so, it would be for safety purposes - they really don't want people swapping seats.

That said, I think power adjustable heated leather seats are the best bet for comfort.
