2010 T4 Prius - My opinion so far :)

    Well, I picked up my T4 today (it's a weekend test drive from our dealership) and it is a white, T4 with standard equipment. When I booked it, I was originally told it would have the sat nav and IPA as part of the car - but oh well, not overly fussed :)

    The car has done 1,300 miles so far (59 plate, so only a few months old) and it has been a looooooooooooooooong time since I have driven an automatic!

    I drove off from the dealership without an issue (apart from leaving the handbrake on - man that thing sticks far up so I didnt knotice it!).

    I came to some traffic lights and thought "I will press the P button so I am not sitting on the brakes". Error.
    Didnt know how to get it back into drive! lol

    So I got honked before I worked it out - won't make that mistake again! lol

    It is SO smooth to dive - I have done 30 miles in it so far today - mix of town driving, motorway etc - 59mpg for that!

    IPA is part of the Advanced Technology Package which is only available on the Model V.

    In any event, I'm sure you'll love the car!

    Congrats to your new pride and joy ;). I'm sure you'll like it. 59mpg is an awesome result for a first-time Prius driver - you are a natural, trust me ;). So, :welcome: and enjoy every mile!

    Congratulations on the new Prius T4.

    My car has both the nav system and the IPA. The IPA is of little value to me and I would not miss it. The main advantage of the built in nav system is that it has a nice back up camera and it is built in which means it won't get stolen. But some of the after market systems such as Garmin (not sure if those are available in the UK) are easier to use and the updates are much less expensive than the updates from Toyota.

    So I don't think you missed much by not getting those two options.

    The OP is in the UK so the options are packaged differently.

    Congrats WildWayz, it is a great car and the automatic side of things will be second nature before you know it.

    Oh and for the benefit of our American friends, I suspect you are quoting miles per real full size english, 160 fluid ounce gallons?

    Yep - I went on a test drive last weekend and liked it. A few days later I received a letter in the post from the dealership inviting me on a 48hr test drive - so I called them up!

    I booked to have it this weekend, so I picked it up at 9am this morning and have to give it back at 4pm Sunday. All they took from me was my old car keys (2002 Nissan Almera Tino) and photocopied my driver's license (which is clean :)).

    They even told me to not worry about putting any petrol back into the car if I don't want to (But I will anyway).

    I have taken the car out again this afternoon and it is SO nice! Can't work out if it auto-locks itself or if I have to always lock it using the remote key.... I know unlocking it I just have to have the transmitter on me and open the drivers door as normal...

    I did some EV driving too - which was cool! Just around a supermarket though.

    The boot wasnt as deep as I thought... then again, I am SOOOO used to the Nissan's massive boot it might just be me!

    I am going to take it out tonight for a night drive - see what it is like at night! I do like the way the display dims when going under a bridge :)

    You will love the car, I bought mine about 2 weeks ago - simply awesome.

    Probably the headlights are set to Auto, so when the surroundings dim (under a bridge), the headlights turn on thus dimming the display.

    To lock the car you need to touch (yes, touch) the upper part of the handle close to the front, where the grooves are. Depending on the option, you can do this on the passenger's and rear boot handle as well.
    The boot height can be improved by removing the boot cover. There is about another 20-30cm of additional space below, but not nice and flat.

    BTW: in Germany as well you can ask for a test drive - you sign a paper for insurance purposes, they make a copy of your driver's license, you have about 50km free of fuel and you can drive where you want for 1hr.

    59mpg. That's about 49-50mpg US. Pretty good!

    That is your opinion.

    I took an overnight test drive of a used Prius from one car yard but ended up buying from another because the car I purchased was nicer to drive. It seemed to have a little more get up and go. Both car yards were owned by the same company.

    Oh, another point, Patrick, the sales guy at Cornes Used Cars, part of the Adtrans Group, was great. He did the right things to secure a sale and make sure I was happy. I have never been so happy with a car purchase experience!!

    I took it out again last night - drove 50miles - some town driving, some motorway driving.

    Average MPG was 55mpg - according to the graphs, at one point I hit just under 70mpg!

    I love this car and dont want to give it back today!

    Gonna see if I can get them to give me a discount...
    Toyota's site has the T-Spirit down as £22,130.00.
    Cheapest I have found it online is £20,840 - that's a saving of £1,290!

    Do you mean you can install Garmin over the top of the Toyota sat nav? Or are you on about having a separate dedicate sat nav that attaches to the windscreen?

    No, this is a separate device attached to the windscreen. A portable GPS such as a Garmin, TomTom etc is both cheaper than the OEM option and in many respects better.

    More features, cheaper to update, can use away from the car etc.

    Downsides are they aren't built-in and smaller screen. I don't know what spec Nav is included with on our UK models is it T3 or only T4?
