Yokohama Avid S33 P195/65R15 89S came on my Prius. I am shopping for 17" wheels and tires. Considering the Continental DWS XTRM Conti 215/45ZR17XL tire.
They've been out for a few years. They include the TripleTred and the ComforTred. Which one do you have? hmm, since when did the factory start shipping them with GY Assurance tyres. Which one do you have? ComforTred or TripleTred?
I assume that they're typical OE tires -- fair to middlin' in quality -- but should have low rolling resistance.
The Goodyear Assurance ComforTred is not a typical OE tire. It's a semi-premium tire and its rolling resistance is middlin'. The regular Goodyear Assurance is more of an OE tire, and also has middlin' rolling resistance. I've heard of Priuses coming in equipped with the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max which is like the regular Goodyear Assurance, but with low rolling resistance. And Goodyear itself announced that Priuses would start having the Fuel Max among its OE tires. Prior to Ongs-Hat's post, I had never heard of Priuses coming in with the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred. I wonder if he's mistaken and he really has the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max instead.
After the word ASSURANCE, mine have a logo of a fuel gauge pointing to FULL, and very tiny letters saying FUEL MAX TECHNOLOGY. Neither "ComforTred" nor "TripleTred" appears on my tires as far as I can see. Anyone know anything about them? As I said, the tred pattern is like some all seasons I've had in the past, so I'm wondering if these are all season or not. As to the question, when did the factory start shipping these, I can say "For arrival at US port before Oct. 18." At least in GST.
I picked up my 2010 V ATP yesterday in Kansas (Kansas City metro). It has Bridgestone Turanza EL400 - 215/45/R17 Great car after one day. Previous car was a 2007 Prius #6 driven 2.5 years and 38,000 miles with the original Goodyear Integrity's which ran just fine.
What a trip 12 hours to get from Raleigh to the Jersey shore (home for Thanksgiving). Saw a ton of Prius booty. Numbers increased as I went further north and at one rest area three 2010 Winter gray's including my own. Probably passed a few Priuschat members but nobody waved so don't send me any friend request! Anyhow 500+ miles later. I double checked and can confirm that I was mistaken. My tires are in fact Fuelmax not Comfor
What are the best winter performance tires for the Prius 2010 ? The other issue is the appropriate chains which are suggested in the manual. Any suggestions as well.
I think your question is too vague to answer. What kind of performance are you looking for? low rolling resistance high grip on icy road high grip on snow road road noise cost per performance comfort other? It's better to make a new thread about the winter tires. Ken@Japan
I think it is better to include the manufactured month on your reporting. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-please-post-your-results-28.html#post1007461 Ken@Japan
Prius IV w Yokohamas, 10/09 build. Does anyone know the weight of the stock wheels that come with the Prius II, III, and IV?

Thanks Ken. When it's time for a new tires I'll be looking for aftermarket wheels that weigh less than 7.4kg or whatever that is in pounds - haha!
