Electronics differences b/w 04-05 & 06-09?

    I am looking at getting a used 2nd gen Prius. I've searched the forums and haven't been able to nail down an answer to the following: Is there a difference (other than packages) in the electronics between the 06-09 model year and the 04-05 models? I've read about changes in the touch screen unlockablity, etc. I'm wondering which to get.

    Any light that can be shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

    The 06-09 have a higher resolution MFD with NAV. Those model years are also equipped with a backup camera.

    Thanks for the info

    What about the ability to backdoor the NAV to enter addresses while moving? I know there are hardware fixes, but there seemed to be a touchscreen hack. Works for some years not for others?

    It depends on the NAV DVD version installed. The newer versions don't work with the screen hack.
